Massive Wildfire Threatens French City of Bordeaux

A devastating wildfire is rapidly approaching the French city of Bordeaux, now burning just nine miles from its outskirts. The blaze has already consumed more than 420 square kilometres of land in less than four days, making it one of the most destructive fires in recent European history. Scientists directly link Europe's increasingly severe fire seasons to rising temperatures caused by climate change. Prolonged summer droughts have left forests dangerously dry, creating ideal conditions for wildfires that can spread with terrifying speed across vast areas.

Eyewitnesses have described encountering "walls of flames" stretching for miles along the horizon. International aid teams from neighbouring countries have joined the firefighting effort, but officials warn that the situation may deteriorate further over the coming days as extreme temperatures persist.
